What to Wear to a Corporate Golf Outing

The Corporate Golf Outing Is a Business Meeting

Treat it as one. The golf course is where deals are evaluated, relationships are built, and impressions are made in an environment where rank is temporarily flattened. What you wear is part of the message you send before you say a word.

The standard is not complicated. It is specific.

The Core Uniform

The Polo Shirt

A performance polo is the standard — not a fashion polo, not a casual t-shirt, not a button-down shirt. The polo should be fitted without being tight, wrinkle-resistant, and moisture-wicking. You will be outdoors for several hours. Fabric performance is not optional.

Collared shirts are required at virtually every private and semi-private course. Showing up in anything else creates friction before the round begins.

Trousers or Tailored Shorts

Most corporate golf outings default to trousers — khaki, navy, or charcoal. Tailored golf shorts are acceptable at more casual events but read as less formal. When in doubt, wear trousers. You can always adjust down; you cannot adjust up.

Golf Shoes or Clean Athletic Footwear

Soft-spike golf shoes are the standard. If you do not own golf shoes, clean white or neutral athletic shoes are acceptable at most courses. Avoid anything with hard soles, visible wear, or loud branding.

What to Avoid

Denim of any kind. T-shirts. Athletic shorts. Visible logos that are not brand-appropriate. Overly casual sneakers. These are not style opinions — most private courses enforce dress codes at the door.

The Executive Standard

The executives who show up composed — dressed as if the outing matters, because it does — are the ones who get remembered for the right reasons.

The BEJ Executive Performance Polo is built for exactly this context. Moisture-wicking, UPF 50-rated, embroidered with the BEJ mark, and available in Adidas and Nike performance fabrics for both men and women.
